Hunger remains a fundamental barrier to educational access and completion for a significant number of college students. The Pantry, a partnership between Cuyahoga Community College and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, seeks to ensure that students in need have access to food and essential resources in a dignified, welcoming space.

Tri-C partnered with Bialosky in 2020, initially to renovate and expand the existing food pantry in the Metro Campus Center. The new design concept envisioned a pantry that felt like a thoughtfully curated local market to help eliminate the stigma that can surround the use of a food pantry.  Warm wood tones, sophisticated lighting, and whimsical graphics create a comfortable environment for students to shop for their items. The eye-catching environmental graphics were developed in collaboration with a Tri-C Graphic Design student to brand the space and add to the overall local market concept.

The success of the Metro Food Pantry, in both concept and design, has inspired additional donors to provide funding for food pantry projects at three additional Tri-C campuses: Western, Eastern, and Westshore.
